What people in Mijdrecht call us for

Mijdrecht is the working village of De Ronde Venen

With more than 16,000 residents, Mijdrecht is the largest village in the municipality and the place where the town hall stands. A quarter of its residents are over 65, and we see that in the enquiries that reach us: a home that has to be emptied because someone is moving into sheltered accommodation, or a house that has to be handed over after a death.

The industrial estate for the region is here as well, along the N201. Clearing a warehouse unit is different work from a house, but the arrangement is the same: one price, one date, left empty and clean.

Eight villages, one municipality

From Mijdrecht to Baambrugge

Since 2011, De Ronde Venen has been made up of eight villages. We drive to all of them, and the work differs from one village to the next.

Mijdrecht and Wilnis

The newer neighbourhoods Proostdijland, Molenland, Twistvlied and Wickelhof were built in the polder between 1960 and 2006, with Hofland and the old village centre in between. Roomy terraced houses with a shed and a loft, and streets where the box lorry can simply park outside. This is where we do most of our clearances.

Vinkeveen and Waverveen

Vinkeveen lies on the lakes. Alongside ordinary village houses there are holiday homes and cabins on the legakkers, the narrow strips of land left over from peat digging.

Abcoude, Baambrugge, De Hoef and Amstelhoek

Abcoude and Baambrugge joined in 2011 and lie on the A2. Older ribbon development with deep gardens and often a shed behind the house. De Hoef and Amstelhoek are small villages on the water, with narrow dyke roads where we come with a smaller van.

About Mijdrecht

Living almost six metres below sea level

De Ronde Venen is drained peatland. The lakes left behind by the peat digging were pumped dry in the nineteenth century, Polder Groot Mijdrecht last of all in 1845. That polder lies almost six metres below NAP, the Dutch ordnance datum, which makes it one of the deepest in the Netherlands.

Peat compacts and sinks, somewhere between half a centimetre and a full centimetre a year. You see it in sloping thresholds, a subsided garden path and a shed that is no longer square. For clearing a property that is rarely a problem, but we watch for it with heavy items and when wheeling a loaded sack truck over a garden path. Just how soft the ground is here became clear in August 2003 in Wilnis, when a peat dyke along the ringvaart gave way and the Veenzijde neighbourhood flooded.

Back to the landlord

Handing over to Cazas Wonen

Almost four in ten homes in Mijdrecht are rented. The social housing here usually belongs to Cazas Wonen, the social housing association formed in early 2022 from GroenWest and Provides, which lets homes in Woerden, Montfoort, IJsselstein and Utrecht as well as in De Ronde Venen. At the final inspection they check whether the home is back in the condition that was agreed.

  • Flooring and underlay outLaminate, carpet, skirting boards and glue residue, as far as the landlord requires it.
  • Holes filled, hooks offWall plugs, screws, brackets and curtain rails go, and the holes are filled.
  • Shed and loft empty tooIn Molenland and Twistvlied that is often where most of the contents are.
  • Photographs and a handover reportSo that at the inspection you can show how you left the home.

Mijdrecht industrial estate

Clearing a warehouse unit, workshop or office on the N201

The industrial estate in Mijdrecht lies directly on the N201 and serves the wider region, with light industry, workshops, storage and offices mixed together. In March 2025 the council set the framework for an extension on the north side, De Bocht.

We clear complete premises there: racking, workbenches, office furniture, filing cabinets and machinery that may go. If that works better outside opening hours, we plan it that way. Here too you get photographs and a handover report, for the landlord or the buyer of the property.

  • Box lorry right up to the roller door
  • Wood, metal and electronics separated
  • Outside opening hours possible
  • Handover with a report

Costs

What does a house clearance in Mijdrecht cost?

From our base at Raadhuisplein in Bodegraven it is just over thirty kilometres to Mijdrecht, via Nieuwkoop and the N212 or along the A12 past Woerden. About half an hour of driving. We charge no call-out fee.

What it costs depends on the amount of contents, how easy the property is to reach and what else has to come out. After the free survey, one amount is on paper within 24 hours, and it stays there. Also if the job turns out to be more work than expected.

  • Studio or small flatFrom € 500
  • Terraced house or family home€ 1.000 to € 1.750
  • Detached house or large property€ 1.750 to € 3.000 or more
  • Cabin on a legakkerEverything goes by boat. We work that out separately, and you get that figure in advance as well.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about house clearance in Mijdrecht and the surrounding area

Do you also work at homes on the water in Vinkeveen?

Yes, as long as the address can be reached by road. Where the access roads are narrow or the drive is tight, we bring a smaller van and make more trips. At the survey we look at where the vehicle can stand, so that it does not become a surprise on the day itself.

We rent from GroenWest. Is that name still right?

GroenWest merged with Provides on 1 January 2022 to form Cazas Wonen. The home and the handover requirements have not changed, only the name on the letter. We hand over according to the report of the pre-inspection, whatever name is at the top of it.

Are the shed and the loft included?

Yes, and in practice that is where most of it comes from. Almost all the homes in Proostdijland, Molenland and Twistvlied have a store or a shed at the back and a loft reached by a folding ladder. Mention them at the survey, then we walk through them as well and they are part of the fixed price.

Our garden path has subsided and the garage is leaning. Can you still drive there?

Usually we can, but we look at it first. On the peat soil here the ground sinks unevenly and paving slabs work loose. We lay driving boards, or carry the last stretch if that is safer. If we notice something about the property at the survey that does not look sound, we say so, even though it is not our trade.

Can you also clear a warehouse unit on the industrial estate by the N201?

Yes. Racking, workbenches, office furnishings, archives and leftover materials we take out and dispose of separately. The box lorry can get right up to the roller door. If it has to be outside opening hours or at the weekend, we plan it that way.

Do you come to Abcoude and Baambrugge too?

Certainly. Since the merger of 2011 those villages have been part of De Ronde Venen and they lie on the A2, so we drive there past Vinkeveen. In the old ribbon development the street is often narrow, so there we come with a smaller van and park the box lorry where it leaves the road clear.

There is old corrugated sheeting in the shed. What do you do with that?

Nothing, until we know for certain. Corrugated sheeting, old floor covering and pipe insulation from a shed built before 1994 may contain asbestos. Only certified asbestos contractors are allowed to remove that. At the survey we mark what looks suspect, and the clearance goes in the diary as soon as the removal work is finished.

How quickly can you be in Mijdrecht?

The free survey is usually possible within 1 to 3 working days. For the clearing itself, allow one to two weeks after that. If it is urgent, we can often start within 24 to 48 hours: from Bodegraven it is only half an hour of driving.
