House clearance Reeuwijk

House clearance in Reeuwijk

A house on the Nieuwdorperweg, a summer house by the lake or a terraced house in Reeuwijk-Brug. We empty them and hand them over broom clean, the standard Dutch handover condition. Our base in Bodegraven is six kilometres away, so no job of ours is closer.

Reeuwijk is more than one village

Reeuwijk-Brug, Reeuwijk-Dorp, Sluipwijk and de Tempel

Since 2011 Reeuwijk has been part of the municipality of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk, together with Driebruggen, Waarder and Nieuwerbrug. The name covers several separate villages, and each one asks something different of us. If you are having a property cleared here, an address on its own is not enough: the route to it counts just as much as the contents.

We park the box lorry as close to the front door as we can. Where that is not possible, we load from the street and carry things a little further.

Reeuwijk-Brug

The largest village, grown up along the Raadhuisweg and the Zoutmansweg. Post-war terraced houses, homes for older residents and flats, with room for the lorry outside the door. Most requests for contents clearance in Reeuwijk come from here.

Reeuwijk-Dorp and de Tempel

The old village on the west side, with the hamlet of de Tempel in between. Detached houses and farms along the polder roads, often with a barn as full as the house. Here we come with a smaller vehicle and drive back and forth more often.

Sluipwijk and the ribbons of houses along the lakes

Sluipwijk sits on a dyke between the lakes, with the houses close to the road and the water behind them. Moving to Sluipwijk, or leaving it, almost always means manoeuvring in tight spaces. We know which vehicle can get through and which cannot.

If the property stands on the water

Along the ‘s-Gravenbroekseweg, the Nieuwdorperweg and the Oudeweg there are detached houses, summer houses and holiday homes with the water in the back garden. The route there is often a narrow dyke with a verge that gives way, and the property itself has a high threshold, a wooden bridge or a jetty.

We do not sort that out on the day, but at the survey. We measure the access, check what the bridge deck can carry and agree which equipment we will bring. What we often bring along:

  • Smaller equipmentA van instead of the box lorry if the dyke or the drive is narrow.
  • Loading ramps and blanketsOver thresholds and jetty planks, without damage to a door frame or a floor.
  • Dismantling furnitureCupboards and sofas that will not fit through the door go out in parts.
  • Transfer at the roadIf the lorry has to stand further off, we bring everything to it in small loads.

Service area

Reeuwijk and the villages of the municipality

We drive from Bodegraven to every village in the municipality: Reeuwijk-Brug, Reeuwijk-Dorp, Sluipwijk, Driebruggen, Waarder and Nieuwerbrug. On the other side of the lakes lies Gouda, and the N207 takes us quickly to Waddinxveen and Boskoop.

North of Bodegraven lies the municipality of Nieuwkoop, with Noorden and Woerdense Verlaat on the same side of the peatland. We clear properties there as well.

If the address lies outside the built-up area, please tell us which road it is on when you make your request. Then we know straight away whether the box lorry can get to it or whether we should come with a van.

How we handle a clearance in Reeuwijk

Because we are nearby, we can often carry out a survey within a day and then press on in one go.

01

A survey on site

We walk through the house, the shed and the loft, measure the access and note down what stays. Free of charge, usually within 1 to 3 working days.

02

A fixed price within 24 hours

You receive one amount and a date. Nothing is charged afterwards, not even if there turns out to be more than expected.

03

Clearing and sorting

Room by room, with the floors and stairs protected. Usable items go to a second-hand shop, the rest is separated into wood, metal, plastic and electronics.

04

Handed over broom clean

At the end the property is empty and swept. You receive photographs and a handover report for the estate agent, the notary or the landlord.

About Reeuwijk

A village among thirteen lakes

Between Bodegraven and Gouda lies an area of lakes created by digging out peat. Around them live people who have been there all their lives and people who came precisely for the view. Many residents work in Gouda, Alphen or Utrecht and drive along the N11 or the A12.

For us that means two kinds of job. In Reeuwijk-Brug we empty ordinary family homes and homes for older residents, often after a move into care or after a death. By the lakes it is holiday homes and houses with a boathouse or a workshop at the water, where belongings have stood for years. See also our page on house clearance after a death.

If there is a warehouse, a nursery or a commercial unit beside the house, we clear it in the same job. You can read how that works on our page about commercial clearance.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about house clearance in Reeuwijk

How quickly can you come out to Reeuwijk?

Usually in the same week, often the next day. We are six kilometres away in Bodegraven, so a survey in Reeuwijk-Brug or Sluipwijk is a fifteen-minute drive for us.

Do you also clear a holiday home on the Reeuwijkse Plassen?

Yes. We clear summer houses and holiday homes just as we do an ordinary property, including the boathouse, the shed and whatever lies underneath the house. If the building can only be reached across the water, let us know with your request and we will agree at the survey how to get the contents off the site.

The road to the property is narrow and there is a bridge. Can your lorry get along it?

We look at that beforehand. On the dykes around the lakes and in Sluipwijk we often come with a van instead of the box lorry and drive back and forth a few more times. If a bridge has a limited load capacity, we park at the road and bring the contents out in parts.

We are actually looking for a removal firm in Sluipwijk. Do you do that as well?

We are not a removal firm: we clear properties. If it concerns a move where part of the contents has to go with you and the rest can go, we set the part that goes with you to one side and take it to the new address. The rest we remove.

What does contents clearance in Reeuwijk cost compared with somewhere further away?

The same rate, with no call-out costs. Distance only comes into it with us if an address is genuinely far away, and Reeuwijk is the nearest of all. You pay for the amount of contents and the access, not for the kilometres.

Do you also work in Driebruggen, Waarder and Nieuwerbrug?

Yes, those villages belong to the same municipality and lie ten to fifteen minutes from our office. We also come regularly to de Tempel and along the polder roads towards Gouda.

What happens to the contents of the property?

Usable furniture and household goods go to a second-hand shop or a charitable foundation in Bodegraven, Reeuwijk or Gouda. Anything that is worn out we separate into wood, metal, plastic and electronics and hand in at the processing plant.

There are old corrugated sheets in the summer house. Will you remove those?

Not ourselves. Corrugated sheets and roof boarding in houses and sheds from before 1994 can contain asbestos, and only a certified removal contractor may take that out. At the survey we point out what is suspect, and we clear the property straight after the asbestos work.
